detail The 601st SQ was established in March 1986 with P-3Cs as a specialized patrol aircraft unit since the retirement of the Lockheed P-2 Neptune from the Canadian Air Force in 1977. It moved to Beja Air Base in the south of the country in February 2008 and is currently in operation there. Its nickname is "Lobos" or "Wolves."
