What is Mud Dyeing? Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional industry that Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, is proud of around the world
One of the production processes is a dyeing method with a history of 1300 years. It is a technique that uses "tea tree" that grows naturally on Amami Oshima and iron-rich mud that is only made in Amami, and is dyed entirely by hand. Since no chemical dyes are used, it is not harmful to the environment and does not contain any allergens.
