In March 1944, an Allied plane was shot down and taken prisoner by the Germans. 76 pilots made a mass escape from the camp, including three Norwegian and Dutch pilots from the Royal Air Force.
In 1963, after the war, this incident was made into a film titled "The Great Escape" starring actor Steve McQueen, and became world famous.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of the film "The Great Escape" in 2013, we have modeled the Spitfire that the three men who successfully escaped were in when it was shot down.
