Spitfire Mk.Vb, No. 332 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Sergeant Per Berisland (Norwegian), "50th Anniversary of the Great Escape", August 1942, AB269 1/72 [AA31934B]

In March 1944, 76 Allied pilots who had been shot down and taken prisoner by the Germans attempted a mass escape from the camp, including three Norwegian and Dutch pilots serving with the RAF.
In 1963, after the war, this incident was made into a film titled "The Great Escape" starring actor Steve McQueen, and became world famous.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of the film "The Great Escape" in 2013, we have modeled the Spitfire that the three men who successfully escaped were in when it was shot down.
