The Nat was originally developed as a small fighter aircraft, but in the UK, where it was developed, it was long used as a trainer aircraft to train jet pilots at the No. 4 Flying Training School at Wales Valley Rd and the Central Flying School in Little Rissington, England.
Even after being retired from the military, it remains popular as a handy jet aircraft, and this XR953 is currently owned by an American private. It appeared as a US Navy fighter in the movie "Hot Shots."
