The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has been operating the AW101 from AgustaWestland as the successor to the MH-53E minesweeping helicopter, with the exception of the initial models, licensed and produced by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. It has been in operation since 2006 as the MCH-101.
The materials are die-cast and plastic, giving it a moderate weight and an affordable price.
