The 304th F-15J Squadron was assigned to Naha Air Base in 2016 to ensure air superiority over the Ryukyu Islands and respond to increasing scrambles.
This aircraft was on a flight demonstration at the Churaumi Air Festival in August 2017. It features a large Tengu painted on the back of the aircraft, which is a commemorative paint job.
The tank on the left has the aircraft that have been used to date depicted on it, in that order: F-86F, F-4EJ, and F-15J, while the tank on the right has "Ryukyu Tengu" written on it, as befits an Okinawan unit.
