The Portuguese Air Force's 201st Squadron is based at the 5th Air Base in Montereal, approximately 130km north of the capital Lisbon, in the west of the country.
In 2009, the aircraft was painted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the base's opening, with the F-86 painted on the top of the fuselage and the names of past aircraft types used by the squadron (F-86, T-33, T-38, Fiat G.91) painted on the tail.
