The 18th Wing of the United States Air Force, based at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture, deployed a unit to the Middle East under the jurisdiction of the United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) in September 2020. Twelve F-15s from the 44th Squadron, "Bats," were deployed to Saudi Arabia.
