The Air Self-Defense Force's F-104s, of which seven squadrons were formed between 1963 and 1966, began to be retired in the late 1970s, and the 202nd Squadron was temporarily outfitted with F-15s in 1980. This F-104 is painted in a special color scheme when it participated in the Battle Attack Competition (TAC) that same year.
